What we're doing

Event Lead: Philip

Located just west of Daytona in Volusia County - this paved bike path travels through all kinds of environments, including DeLeon State Park, going along Blue Spring, Lake Woodruff National Wildlife Refuge, Green Spring, Lake Beresford, under a train bridge, on a wooden bridge that curves through a swamp, Gemini Spring, and some high-end historic neighborhoods.

The bike ride will be in two segments, and you can either ride both (approx. 30 miles) or just the second segment, which is the more scenic and more shaded, and is closer to 20 miles. Some participants will do both segments, some will just ride the second segment, so do what is the most fun for you!

A few members are setting up a basecamp at Blue Springs to watch over people's chairs, food and gear, and to receive everyone as they finish. Bring a packed lunch for after the ride and we'll have a little picnic!

You cannot swim at two of the springs on the bike route, but we will end up spending time after the bike ride at Blue Springs State Park, where several of us will swim and cool down as the day heats up. We recommend trying to carpool, as it's a bit of a drive, there is a $5 fee per car to enter the park, and it gives us even more fellowship time together!

This is maybe the best cycling ride in Northeast Florida, combined with additional activities and friends you know!

Segment 1 - Roughly 30 Miles Round-Trip

If starting from here for the full trip - meet at the Blue Springs Cafe at 8am within Blue Springs State Park

DeBary, FL 32713

Segment 2 - Roughly 20 Miles Round-Trip

If starting from here for the shorter trip - meet at 9:30am at Sullivan Field:

138 W Highbanks Road. Debary, FL 32713

We will be biking to Fort Mellon Park and back, ending up at Blue Springs Park after the ride.

The gathering spot for lunch and swimming inside Blue Springs State Park will be announced once we have established a spot within the park.

FULL BIKE ROUTE MAP: https://goo.gl/maps/e7r1abRu1KR7d9W99

Equipment needed for this trip:

Bike - this is a paved trail, so road bikes, hybrids, or mountain bikes will all work

Sunscreen

Protective clothing

Water

Bug spray

Snacks

Lunch

Need your bike tuned up or repaired before the ride?
